Vietnam has a long coastline with hundreds of beautiful and famous beaches. Each of them has unique features and attracts tourists in their own way. Today, let’s look into these 3 outstanding beaches for the North, the Central and the South of Vietnam, all of which are on the top list of must-see destinations in Vietnam, especially in summer.
Do Son Beach – Northern Vietnam
Do Son Beach is considered as one the most attractive beaches in Northern Vietnam with a combination of mountains and thousands of different types of trees such as casuarinas, pines, palms, etc. Especially, the sand of the beach has a unique color, which is reddish at the sunset but yellowish in the morning. In addition to that, visitors coming here will realize one thing that the sand is very smooth and it almost has no shells at all. Therefore, it not only is an interest for the kids but also give tourists comfortable feelings.
Do Son Beach
Do Son Beach is divided into three main zones. The water here is not as clear and blue as others due to the two estuaries. However, it has the moderate salinity so that your skin will not be burnt when bathing at noon.
Zone 1 is close to the residential area of Do Son District. There are many eateries, restaurants, and hotels here. Nevertheless, there are few people bathing because of the large waves and sharp rocky terrain.
Zone 2 is the main beach which attracts a lot of tourists with suitable stretches of sand for bathing, playing and water sports such as canoeing, parasailing, etc. Outstandingly, there is a Bao Dai Villa with majestic structure. Tourists are allowed to stay and try being in the bedroom of the king, the queen, the princess or the prince, which creates a new and different impression in the system of hotels in Do Son Beach.
Zone 3 is somehow quieter. It is surrounded by hundreds of attractive works of Hon Dau International Tourist Resort, such as pools, restaurants, shopping centers, amusement parks for children, mini golf courses, etc.
Sam Son Beach – Central Vietnam
Sam Son Beach is one of the top must-see beaches in Vietnam with yellow stretches of sand, clear water and moderate salt concentration suitable for human health. It is definitely an ideal option for your Vietnam beach tour in summer.
Sam Son Beach
Sam Son Beach is charming at different times of the day. In the early morning, when the sun is about to rise, the boats of the Nui villagers return after a night of fishing off the coast. Then, there will be a busy market along the seashore with various types of fresh seafood. Visitors are free to choose and try shrimps, crabs, squids, fishes, etc. All of them are caught during the night.
In the afternoon, in cool weather, Sam Son Beach attracts a large number of tourists bathing. At night, the sea is vaporous under the moonlight, stars. The waves still lap the shore but they seem to be calmer and more elegant. It looks like there are two separately contrasting worlds in Sam Son. One side is the long coast of sparkling moonlight and the other is crowded Ho Xuan Huong Street with colorfully bright lights.
Bai Sao (Sao Beach) – Southern Vietnam
Sao Beach in Phu Quoc is known to be a paradise for couples. It is located about 25 km away from the center of Duong Dong Town, Phu Quoc, Kien Giang. It is one of the most beautiful beaches of Phu Quoc Island with flat and white stretches of sand, surrounded by giant rocks to the sea. Unlike other Vietnam beaches which have been exploited for tourism, Sao Beach still keeps its wildness and innocence like a grown-up girl.
The name “Bai Sao” also has a very interesting origin. The word “Sao” here means “star” and “Bai” is simply “beach”. Locals here explain that it is because every night, when sunset falls, there are thousands of sparkling stars in the sky, reflecting on the surface of the water. Then, from that day on, it is called “Bai Sao”.
The sand in Sao Beach is not as yellow as in Nha Trang Beach, or as golden as in Vung Tau Beach, but is white and smooth as cream. It is surrounded by two gentle mountains, which brings quiet and fresh space.

In the morning, you can take a walk along the seashore, watch the sunrise. The sea winds here are also light and quiet enough for restless people to lie back on the swaying hammocks and enjoy a short sleep.
